This piece was made after a vintage Japanese basket I saw at an auction. I didn’t win the auction, so from photographs of the basket, I created my own. One element that I love about Japanese baskets, is how a weaver can be a base, then a side, then a rim. There is such efficiency in the work and because of this, a sort of perfection.
